Garden by the Bay

Sunday, September 09, 2012

During the 1-wk school holiday, we took half day off from work to bring the kids to the Garden by the Bay. We had briefly stepped in previously and this time, we aimed to cover all the paid conservatories - Flower Dome & Cloud Forest. And, we did just that.

At the awesome Flower Dome where we took endless photos!!

Enchanting Cloud Forest

Kids were so excited to view the 35-metre tall mountain which marks the world’s tallest indoor waterfall showcases plant life from tropical highlands up to 2,000-metres above sea level. The cool air environment certainly refreshes you! Must remember to bring a sweater here, it can get rather chilly!

follow this guide and you will not get lost in the cloud forest.

We took a lift to Level 6, which was the Lost World at the top of the mountain. And from there, we would descend through 2 walkways - the Cloud Walk and Tree Top Walk. The kids really love the misty cold forest!

The mountain is densely planted with a mixture of fascinating plants and ferns. The stroll along the cloud walk was breathtaking!

At the end of the Cloud Forest, the kids sat through the film which show what would happen if the global land surface temperature warmed up by 5 degrees.

We spent the whole afternoon covering both the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest. By evening, we were famished. Quickly, we checked out the Supertree Dining experience. It is not exactly like a foodcourt although the whole dining area consisted of various fares from Peach Garden Noodle House to Texas Chicken. While each section is cordoned off such that you could only sit where you like to dine, they accept  tabao from other section.

We tried the Hill Street Coffee Shop's nasi lemak and fried kway tiao while the boys slurped up Peach Garden's noodle soup. I must say surprisingly, the nasi lemak was good! I did not try the noodles but judging that the two boys ate it all up, it must be pretty decent.

After the fuel replenish, we were just in time to catch the nightly OCBC Garden Rhapsody. It is the signature nightly display of magical lights and music amid the giant Supertrees. Lovely, isn't it.

Done with the lights, the kids begged to do the OCBC Skyway to end the lovely nitez.

Restrictions that you should be aware at the Skyway. LOL on the "No Heels"
