With some friends, we decided on a last minute 3D2N trip to Malacca. It's Seth's maiden trip out of Singapore and also an eventful trip.
Day 1
What's Malacca without tasting their Chicken Rice Ball and Chendol!

We had our fill of Chicken Rice in the Hotel and after some wash up, we went to buy some 土产 and eat chendol. They have mango, durian and gula melaka flavour.
In the evening, we went to the famed Jonker Walk to have our dinner and shop around.
Day 2
After breakfast, we visited St Francis Xaver's Church. We also find a nice little Nonya restaurant to have our lunch.

At night, while the kids were playing in the hotel with caregiving by the maids. We are back to Jonker Walk again for more shopping. We also moved to Mahkota Hotel.
Ok..now to the "eventful" part.
On the first nite at Jonker Walk, Shan had a very bad fall in one of the shop! Lotsa blood oooze out and I had to try to be calm about it when inside, I was feeling panicky.. It was so bad that her upper lip immediately swelled and that very night, she had fever. For the next 2 days, Shannon practically just stayed in the Hotel with the maid. In between, we brought her to A&E. However, her fever did not subsize. Back to Sg on Sun night, we brought her to a GP. Perhaps, it's homeland, her fever went off. Stayed home for another few days to nurse her big ulcer.

Pool view looks great in Mahkota Hotel. Unfortunately, with Swine Flu in the air, we din dare to go swimming.
Sky enjoying a game of golf while the older boys played table tennis. All these are provided free by the Hotel.

We had our Chicken Rice Ball feast again before we headed back to Sg.

Evelyn held a birthday party at Bakerzin for 1yo Keith. It was a new experience for the kids and they enjoyed it to the fullest.
The boys fooling outside Bakerzin while waiting for the baking session to begin
The kids in their baker's uniform. Getting started in their baking session.
Sky scooping up the mixture attentively. Ready to bake it.
Shan icing her marshmallows for the cupcake toppings.
Ta-duh...Choc Fudge Cupcake
The kids get to keep the uniform, a certificate, a photo shot and of course the cupcakes made by them.

No kidding! But Shannon needed 3 visits to solve her toothache!! That's how she look like when she got emotional and do not cooperate with the dentist.
1st Visit----- We brought her to a private dental clinic at Tiong Bahru. There's some raving reviews from some mothers forum. Well, the dentist is friendly and even got her assistant to blow balloons for her with the hand gloves. Shan got a bad tooth decay and needed to do root canal treatment which will cost me $200+ and few visits. The dentist gently told her that she need to do a jab (local anesthetic) on her. As soon as she heard that, she cried uncontrollably no matter how we pacified her. Spent $30 and few good hours and nothing was done!!! As per the dentist advise, shannon would hv to go National Dental Care so that they could sedate her.
* * * * *
Have been wanting to go School Dental Care @ Health Promotion Board for the kids' dental visit which cost only $9 but am always put off by one month of waiting time. So, this dragged on and every time, i failed to bring them to visit the dentist. (Think I'm partly responsible for Shan's toothache :p) With this, i quickly called up School Dental Care again and tell them how serious is Shan's tooth condition. Surprisingly, they are able to slot Shan a week later.
2nd Visit----- Got to know from the dentist that Shan got 5 cavities!! There's also pus on the gum besides the tooth that need root canal treatment. Still very apprehensive, the dentist is good enough to make her open her mouth and do some cleaning. When the dentist did a swop of the equipment, Shan got emotional again and cried. The dentist then suggested for another visit for her to get comfortable and gave her some winx club stickers. Paid $9. When making appointment for the next visit, again the counter staff gave me a date which is a month later.
3rd Visit------ Learnt the "techniques" to fix quick appointment and gotten an appointment a week later. Glad that she was allocated the same dentist and she was so comfortable with him that she kept asking him various questions. Got abit emo in between and finally, all ended well with the cavity being cleaned and filled up! Whew! Paid $21.
The School Dental Care is indeed GOOD and CHEAP. The dentist is also ultra child friendly. I'm glad that i did not and need not spend a bomb on paediatric dentist. Made another appointment again to clean her remaining 4 cavities and this time, include Sky to the dentist visit.

This is not a recent event but I have been wanting to blog this for memory sake.
We did not really educate the kids to call my mum 外婆 and my mil 奶奶。The kids call both "Ah Mas". But, they identify 外婆 as Choa Chu Kang Ah Ma and 奶奶 as Boon Lay Ah Ma by themselves since dunno when (years back?). We were quite amused initally when the kids said it. Gradually, we speak in their lingo :)

Sky's drawing of the family. Noticed that there are 6 of them cos he included the helper.

The centre two big ones are mummy & daddy. Somehow, the family look like Casper, the Friendly Ghost to me. LOL

It's coming to almost two months into my maternity leave and time is spent tickling away at my PC besides cooing, bathing & feeding Seth. Hmm..not very constructive, ya.
Have completed two HK drama serial thus far and one of them is 82 episodes of "The Gem of Life". The rest of my time is spent spending $$ online and I better do some justification to my purchases.
1. Have been looking for this book the longest time at the local book stores and it seems to be always out of stocky. Finally, bought this from Amazon via spree. Useful book where I could read while feeding Seth.
2. Replenish my stock of Dr Lily's Aloe Vera Gel fm SMH spree. Seth has a bad case of milk rash at his cheek and I thought it will go away by itself when he's 1mth old. However, it did not and it's becoming a eye sore. Decided to use it on him intensively and within a week, i see 90% improvement. I also use it to soothe mossie bites for the kids and whenever Shannon has her small bouts of eczema flare up.

3. Has been using this brand of diaper rash ointment for Shan & Sky when they were babies and has been proven good to prevent diaper rash. Bought this for Seth's butt as well from Hocks.com via spree too.
4. With two kids to handle, I have been eyeing on a sling to carry Seth so that I can be hands free. It also save me from taking the bulky pram all the time. Finally, I settled on a pupsik pouch. Gee, do I look like a mummy kangaroo
5. When I was bfg Sky, I did not pop any multivites and eat normally. Well, despite TBF, he was easily down with flu where virus was usually brought in by the school going jie jie then. Doc often say Sky has sensitive nose. This time, I decided to give Seth extra booster by diligently popping some pills. I also bought fenugreek from GNC to increase my milk production. There's a spree on drugstore.com with 20% discount on GNC items.
Fenugreek
GNC Price - S$29.50
Drugstore.com Price - US$12.99
GNC Women's Prenatal Program 30 Day (includes folic acid, calcium and DHA which is good for lactating mums too)
GNC Price - S$66.50
Drugstore.com Price - US$19.99
It's huge savings esp the price are before less 20% discount!
6. From SMH spree as well, this is the cheapest mascara i ever bought at $9.90. It works wonder and my lash really lengthened with the use of this flamingo mascara. Guess I could ditch my lancome mascara liao.

7. Have been a while since i buy any books for the kids and we are not visiting the library as often as before. The kids has been reading the same books for their bedtime stories and I read until I find it soooo boring. In fact, I'm not reading as much as before as Shan is already reading on her own and to her bro. Thus, i bought some books from http://www.schoollink.co.uk/ via spree where average price of ea book is $3.

The kids' friend Mikael had his 6th birthday at Lilliputt. It is a mini golf course built featuring various landmarks of Singapore. The kids managed to putt their way through the 18 mini golf holes with the daddy guiding along. However, dh said they played more like hockey than golf.

Compared to Shan, I'm pleasantly surprised that Sky is the more affectionate & loving bro to the little guy. Every day, without fail, he will be the first to coo & kiss the little guy when they are back from school. Sky would also ask to carry the little guy and hug close to him. (The ideal scenario should be they wash their hands & legs first or shower first before touching the bb. But with #3 & two running kids, hygiene is certainly not my top priority).

Shan entertaing the little guy.
So far, there's no detection of jealousy from the 2 of them. Thank god.

Seth is the only little guy I did not go home with when i discharged from hospital. His jaundice level was fluctuating from 12 to 15 and thus, he continued his stay at TMC for photo-theraphy treatment. For that couple of days, his gor-gor and jie-jie will come back with a hopeful qn "Has baby Seth come back?" He only got home on Day 7 & we continued sunbathe him for few more days.
My post natal massage session also started on Day 7 and was finally over yesterday! Auntie Ann is the nonya massage lady that i had faithfully engaged for all my pregnancies. Mind you, the massage is no spa like. Besides the painful massage, I also had to endure the tight wrap overnight for 7 nights. Post natal massage is said to remove wind and restore the womb to original state. The extra thing is that she never failed to guarantee is that i will get back to my shape :)
At 2wks old, he has now more awake time for interaction. He's also a big eater, demanding to be nursed every 2 hours. When birthed, many commented that he looked that Sky. Gradually now, i find that he looks that Shan. Some mentioned that he looks like both.

13 Feb 09
My 40wk appointment has finally came and i hadn't made much progress. Was quite hopeful for things to happen though (those who know me would know why i prefer this date) and asked Dr Tan if i could be induced that day. Dr Tan advised that my cervix was not open yet and decided to schedule induction the following day.
Nevertheless, happily went to Copthorne King for Penang Buffet which I have been craving for 2 wks already. There, Dh saw his OCS Instructor course friend, Pierre Png (Yes, the actor). Both of them catch up on the NS days and he congratulated me dunno how many times! Was sharing with dh that he looks like a unpretentious, friendly and sincere guy.
14 Feb 09 (EDD)
7.45am - Reach TMC for induction.
10am - Finished the procedures of breaking my water bag and passing motion. Dr Tan mentioned that i was in fact 2cm dilated already. Still, as I was feeling no pain, I was being induced. Was pushed to the birth room shortly after and consistent but bearable contraction started to kick in. Valentine's Day seems to be a hot day for giving birth. Almost every half an hour, we will hear bb wailing outside and I was wondering when my turn will come.
12.30pm - All of a sudden, the contraction got intense and longer. I started to moan in pain. Midwife checked that I was 5cm dilated. Started my screaming session and asked for epidural!! The midwife calmly told me "Too late, dear. You are already 8cm dilated." Ok, this sounds familiar..heard this when i'm pushing Shan & Sky out too. Started to feel like pushing but midwife kept telling me not to push first. I could also hear dh's gan jiong voice asking why Dr Tan is not here yet.
1pm - Dr Tan arrived and turned me on the stirrup. Was feeling extremely exhausted and felt that i could just die!! Gave a 2 push and out came Seth!
Was in complete shock when the nurse announced that Seth is a whopping 3.9kg boy. It was the most amazing experience of my life. The pain was awful, but I wouldn't change a moment of it for anything. I'm so proud and amazed that I was able to give birth naturally to my 3 baobeis and my body's ability to do what it needed to do.
I thank God for this beautiful creation.

Shannon has to be coaxed to not to join us in attending XL & Eric's wedding. In the end, dh promised that he will bring them to fly kite the following day.
After church, we managed to locate a party shop in bugis that sells kite and went to West Coast Park to fulfil the promise. It was scorching hot day! The kids had a good workout running with the kites!

As of last week, Shan will have spelling test every Monday. As a diligent (kiasu) mother, I better test her every Sunday before she's being tested the following day.
Instead of giving it to me for marking, she proceeded to mark it herself, gave herself 4 stars and wrote "I am clever ok"! (had to ask me for the spelling of "clever") Very Ego, right?!?

My weight: 62.3kg (urgg...must be the sinful choc cake from Rive that we ate yesterday in celebration of our cell leader, XL's birthday)
Seth's weight: 3.56kg (err...getting worried now...seems a bit big for me to handle...can it pop out just like that?)
Went for check up this morning. Seth still prefer to stay inside a little while longer...either he's enjoying the good food too much to come out or he prefers to be the Valentino (the actual EDD is 14 Feb) or he wants to have same birth date with his gor gor (13 May) or jie jie (13 Aug).

Sky has always been the active one and would not sit his butt straight for long. Even during story time, he would run around rather than patiently sit by your side to listen. I was rather worried abt his lack of attention span.
However, he surprised me by finishing 6pcs of colouring neatly in another room with our helper while i was with Shan on her piano practice.
Soooo proud of him!

On 初二 night, we noted Sky's sausage ear. Must be an insect bite when he went down cycling in the noon. This is the second time and whenever there's a mosq bite or any insect bite, it will get swollen. Shan kept on praying for him and indeed children's prayer is very powerful. His ear was back to the normal size by 初三 night.

my weight: 62.1kg (I'm soooo fat! - Must be the Bubble Teas!)
Seth's weight: 3.38kg
Shannon is happily settled in her bed but not for Sky. For those who know him, you would know that he's a daddy's boy rather than a mummy's boy. Since the start of my 2nd - 3rd Tri, he swung to a extreme "I want mummmmmy" stage. He often wants me to carry him and sleep with him.
For the last week, the routine goes like this almost every night:
a) i pat him/ sleep with him till he sleep on his bed
b) i go back to my bed/ do my stuff
c) 1 - 2hrs later, he woke up, open the door and look for me/ goes to our room.
d) I will bring him back to his room and start step (a)
e) (a) - (d) can repeat for at least 3 times before my persistence wears off and he will end up sleeping on our bed
f) On those days i'm super tired, he will get away with 1 try and be happily sleeping in our bed. No matter what, daddy can't be involved in this process. sign...
These "exercise" during the nights caused fatigue to Sky & myself!!

As per Chinese custom, we couldn't go 拜年this year as the kids' ah gong passed on last year. With nothing on, we decided to go for the Sentosa Flowers 2009 after we visited our parents on 初一. It was a mistake!! All the Bangala and Chinese (china) swarmed here as well. It was so crowded!! There's queues for every main attraction if you want to take photos.
